To be honest, I was lost when I tried to name this recipe. Is it a cookie or a sweet? I stopped at a neutral “balls”. Delicious, crumbly, instantly melt in the mouth! This is pure halva! Maybe not the healthiest recipe on my website, but certainly one of the most delicious.
My halva is absolutely no different from the chocolate covered one that is sold in a store in a red-and-gold package. Incredibly soft, sweet enough and can be kept outside the fridge.
It has a very bright aroma of sesame oil/tahini and an absolutely charming round shape.
Such a dessert is very satisfying, so I highly recommend that you limit yourself to 1-2 balls at a time. Ready? Set?
Let’s go cooking!
We will need: (16-18 pieces)
1 cup (250 ml) of all-purpose flour
5 tbsp. of powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. of cinnamon
4-5 tbsp. of tahini
3 tbsp. of vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoons of soda
3 tbsp. of chocolate chips or plain chocolate + a little water (for decoration)
Preheat the oven to 150C / 300F.
Mix the flour, powder, baking soda, cinnamon.
Add oil and tahini.
The dough will be very dry, do not panic. Carefully roll the balls. I made this cookie several times and sometimes I got 12, and sometimes 18 balls. I advise you to roll them not very big, then they will not fall apart in the oven.
Line the baking sheet with baking paper and distribute the balls.
Bake for 20 minutes, then turn the oven off and remove the balls. They will be very hot, so be careful! Melt the chocolate with water.
Pour chocolate on the balls. Put the balls in the already switched off oven and leave them there until the oven is almost completely cooled, that should take about 40 minutes. During this time the balls will dry completely.
Delicious!
Bon appetit!
